How can you be a part of Relay for Life?
There are a number of different ways to participate in the Relay for Life:
- Form a Team — Recruit 10-50 people that are dedicated to fighting cancer and are willing to take turns walking/running on the track for the entire event. Team members are required to pay a $10 registration fee and are asked to raise a minimum of $100 per participant.This can be done by asking for donations or fundraising within your team. - Planning Committee — We invite you to join our planning committee. We usually meet once a month to discuss what has been done and what needs to be done to ensure that our upcoming event is a success.If you’d like to join us, please call Jena Friedel at (919) 452-4842 or jjffred@hotmail.com.
- Corporate Sponsor — We need your help. The Relay For Life of Hillsborough/Orange County planning committee would like to invite you to be a corporate sponsor. If you were a sponsor last year, we are very thankful for your support! Please find the sponsorship information on this form, Sponsorship Registration, that most suits your business or organization. In addition to contributing money to this very worthwhile cause, we ask that you also place survivor and luminaria flyers at your business. Employees and/or members of your organization can also be on teams. Participants form teams of 10-15 people and take turns walking and running around the track for the entire event. The teams can compete in fund raising activities with other teams within the company or with other companies and organizations. We would be honored if you would take this opportunity to join in with the entire community in the fight against cancer. - Survivor Lap — If you are a cancer survivor, we want you!! You are the reason for our Relay for Life celebration—to celebrate your life. We would be HONORED to have you take the victory lap along with over 100 survivors as we clap and cheer your victory over this dreaded disease.Whether you have been a survivor for several years or have just been diagnosed, you are very important to us as a SURVIVOR and we salute you! Each survivor who participates will receive a free Survivor T-Shirt and goodie bag. - Luminaria — You can help light the way to a cure for cancer and honor loved ones that have battled this disease. During the American Cancer Society Relay For Life Event, a beautiful and touching Luminaria Ceremony takes place. Candles are placed in luminaria bags and are lit the Friday Night of the event to honor those fighting cancer or in remembrance of those who have lost their battle with the disease. The candles burn throughout the night, serving as a reminder of the purpose of Relay For Life. - Tribute Torches — For a donation of $100 (minimum) individuals and/or companies can sponsor a “Tribute Torch” to be displayed at the 2010 Relay For Life of Hillsborough/Orange at Orange County Speedway. Your company or family name will be displayed on a sign, which will be placed in front of the Tribute Torch. You may include a message of your choice. The sign will remain in front of the Torch which will be lit during the Luminary ceremony and will remain lit for the remaining portion of Relay For Life.
