American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Hillsborough/Orange County

 

Dear Business and Community Leader,

The Orange County Unit of the American Cancer Society is preparing for its eight annual Orange County/Hillsborough Relay for Life event.  The event will be held May 6-7, 2011 at the Orange County Speedway.

Make the 2011 Relay for Life the most successful event in our community . . .
Cancer touches so many lives, in so many ways; the monies raised help to fund research and provide services for cancer patients and their families in our community.  One hundred percent of the funds raised by businesses, community organizations, individuals and teams go directly to the American Cancer Society.   
 
We need your help . . .
The Hillsborough Relay planning committee would like to invite you to become one of our corporate sponsors.  If you were a sponsor last year we would like to thank you in advance for your continued support of this wonderful community event.  

The event begins with a survivor lap in which cancer survivors take a victory lap around the track.  A luminary ceremony will also be conducted to honor cancer survivors and to remember those who lost the battle against this dreaded disease. In addition to contributing money to this very worthwhile cause we ask that you also place survivor and luminary flyers at your businesses.  We have enclosed a survivor form for you to circulate to employees within your organization.

Employees and/or members of your organization are also invited to form a relay team.  Participants form teams of 10-15 people (or less depending on the size of your company) and take turns walking around the track during the event. The goal is to have at least one member of your team walking at all times throughout the event. The teams are also encouraged to participate in fund raising activities within the company and within the community.  Throughout the evening the teams’ members will enjoy entertainment, food, games and the fellowship of a community “party” atmosphere much of which is provided by other teams holding fundraisers on site and your team is also welcome to host a fundraising event.  Teams are also allowed to camp on site adding to the fun and family atmosphere.
